9 Moons: Imagined Archives (2023-Present)

Using my custom Suzani AI generator, I crafted symbolic representations of imagined memories. My creative process begins with 2D images generated by the AI, which I then reimagined and personally modelled into 3D objects that were ‘taken out of’ the world of 9 Moons. This collaboration with AI dives deep into the evolution of collective memory in the AI age. How has the process of constructing collective memory changed with the development of AI technologies? Do we still remember anything, or is there something else that remembers instead of us? My artworks, rooted in a feminine familial perspective, emphasise objects that are ‘iconic’ in a sociological sense. For instance, the cotton boll – with generations tied to cotton production, these bolls symbolise more than agriculture. They represent the Soviet agro-industrial colonial project's profound societal and ecological effects in the Central Asian region.
